Mary Kavanagh

I grew up in Kerry, Ireland out in the wilds surrounded by bog, mountain, estuary and sea. I love wild places and everything in them and am happiest when immersed in the rich tapestry of smell' sounds, colour and texture. I drew as a child and teen wishing to go to art college but practically/financially that wasn't possible so I trained as an Occupational Therapist and worked in health and social care for 35 years. I moved to the UK and have always sought out wild places to restore. I have dabbled in drawing and painting and the call of inspriation has been loud from nature. However, I never had the time or headspace to enable all the ideas in my head to flow to my hands and start creating and turn up at the page. I recently started 'The Artist's Way' by Julie Cameron and I started seeing the world with creative eyes again. This book is a 12 week programme to unblock would be artists. I would love to deveop my own style and explore how to express how I see nature in all its energy and colour.
