I am a 60+ year old who has decided to bring art / creativity back in my life. The short story is that 7 years ago I fulfilled a lifelong dream of learning to weave. I started out traditionally but found it too confining. Along my journey to weave, I discovered Saori weaving started by a woman in Japan when she was in her 60s. I have never looked back. When I weave and manipulate the yarns I feel like I am painting with my fingers. One form of art or another was always important to me but during my busy years of working and taking care of my family, I let it go. About a year ago I decided to start playing with paints again. I bought some watercolor paints, brushes, colored pencils and paper. I started using YouTube videos but found that style of learning hard so I decided to take a class. I want to paint the way that I weave and some of the courses on Domestika interest me. I don’t aspire to make art a career, just to have a way to express myself and be creative.
