Recomendaciones para viaje a Amsterdam

"rescato" el post por si alguien tiene alguna idea más que añadir... nosotros iremos ahora en unos días, haremos un viaje en coche pasando (y parando) por el noroeste de Francia (Bretaña, Normandía...), Holanda y puede que Brujas (recomendación de Mr Juanjez :D) así que cualquier recomendación será más que bienvenida, como dónde alojarnos, cómo o dónde dejar el coche en Amsterdam (que ya veo que mejor dejarlo fuera de la ciudad)... esas cositas.

hola a todos. os escribo con la intencion de compartir mi experiencia. He pasado unos dias en Amsterdam, y por recomendacion le hemos alquilado un apartamento a un tio que vive alli.
Eramos 5 personas en un apartamento y nos salio alrededor de 200 euros por noche. como 40 euros por persona, y el sitio estaba muy bien,muy limpio y tal. y centrico y nos ahorramos un pastón en desayunos y comidas.
También sé que tienen otras opciones, como habitaciones a precio más económico.
El me pidió que si nos había gustado lo recomendáramos, y como nos pareció muy bien ,decidí recomendarlo en este foro.

Pues vaya, ya se sabe que la experiencia de cada uno es distinta y también que en un año y pico el sitio puede cambiar mucho. De todas formas, ya lo tendré en cuenta yo también para el futuro ;)

krOn, el hotel este lo único bueno que tiene es la tarjeta magnética que te permite aperecer por ahí cuando te de la gana? y el desayuno (a parte de la ubicación inmejorable). Por lo demás las habitaciones dan bastante pena comparado con la clavada que me han metido: los muebles hechos polvo, las paredes que les falta una mano de pintura y la ventana que deja pasar viento y lluvia (que también tuvimos). Está limpio pero no cuidado! A parte, la ubicación está bien pero el sábado por la noche es un ir y venir de coches, tranvías hasta las 5.00 de la madrugada? en fin

en cuanto al viaje: una recomendación es pasearse por el AlbertCuypmarket y el café del mismo nombre y después seguir (en bici) un poco más al sur por unos barrios muy tranquilos y agradables de la escuela arquitectonica holandesa de principios de siglo (que no me acuerdo del nombre) que de verás que vale la pena.

By Train:

Take a train to Amsterdam Central Station (20 minutes). From there take trams 1, 2 or 5 to Leidseplein (Leidse Square). At Leidseplein you will have to pass the city Theatre (the building with the balcony) on the left side and enter Marnixstraat. After 150 meters, just over the first bridge you'll find the hotel on your right. Total travel time door to door is one hour.

By Taxi:

We want to give you a serious warning in case you take a taxi from Schiphol Airport or Central Station. Information reaches us that taxi drivers do not calculate right prices even when they are driving on the meter. We hear things like taking a very long route on the Ring around Amsterdam, inflating your ride up to 75 Euros. Well, this is rightout unfair but seems to happen a lot.

Preferably you take a taxi with the green &amp; white TCA logo, that is Taxi Centrale Amsterdam and the largest and most reliable company. Please let the driver know you are aware of the prices.

A drive from Schiphol Airport to Hotel De La Haye will cost around 35 Euros and takes about 20-25 minutes. A ride from Central Station to Hotel De La Haye is about 10 Euros. Don't let the driver fool you!

By Bus:

Take the # 370 Bus to the Leidseplein area. Get out at the Leidseplein in front of the American Hotel. Pass the American Hotel on the right side so you'll enter the Marnixstraat. After 150 meters just over the first bridge you'll find the hotel at your right. For more information on public transport of any kind please visit

By Car:

If you are coming by car please be aware that parking is expensive!

Everywhere in the city centre you have to pay approx. 3 Euros per hour. We do not have a private parking. Europarking nearby in Marnixstreet costs 36 Euros per 24 hrs.

The best location is the Amsterdam Olympic Stadium parking, Park &amp; Ride (P&amp;R). You pay Euro 5,50 per 24-hours! And.. You get two bicycles for free!!! It takes you about 10-15 minutes by bicycle to the hotel.

BROWN CAFES

There are loads of "typical" Dutch things, one of them is the brown café. In general they serve special beers and platter food. People have good discussions there and there is a frienldy at athmosphere, you can talk to anyone and they will talk back. In general all Dutch people speak English.

One of the oldest bars is next to the hotel on the corner of the Prinsengracht and the Leidsegracht, 100 meters away called Café De Pieper (The Patato). The café is a couple of hundred years old...Enjoy!

MUSEUMS:

A visit to Amsterdam is probably no visit without seeing a painting by Rembrandt or Van Gogh. The Rijksmuseum

CANAL TOURS

How lucky you are you booked a room with us, the boats leave just 150 meters away from the hotel. We have had guests who reached the canal boat in just 30 seconds. Whew! Pues por si te sirve este es el otro hotel donde me quedé. Es rollo más hotel que el La Haye, un poco más lejos, y creo recordar que algo más caro (yo pillé una oferta de la sección de hoteles de Easyjet), pero bueno, tampoco estaba mal. Ahora que veo las fotos de la web, parece más de lo que es.

Aunque eso sí, entre los dos me quedo con el de La Haye. Ya contarás que tal tu viaje ;)

De recomendaciones, pues no se, aparte de lo obvio, los parques hay alguno que son la ostia, la sala Paradiso es un must, y si vas con tiempo yo me daría un garbeo por La Haya y Rotterdam.

acabo de ver el hotel, y tiene muy buena pinta. La Haya y Rotterdam será par otra vez? De la última "sólo" conozco los gigantescos buques con los que se topa uno atravesando el puerto?

Para volver a lo que interesa: me han hablado muy bien del "Museo de los Trópicos" (que no psicotropicos) que "recrea" un país en cada una de sus salas, con música, hábitat etc? Lo conoce alguién?
