With my diverse background and life experiences, I've developed my own unique perspective as a woman who has successfully navigated the challenges of early retirement. As a native of Venezuela, where my extended family lives, I am immersed in a wide range of cultural customs. My father's family is from a town on the Colombian border, whereas my mother's family is from a gold mining town on the Brazilian border.
I married my husband the love of my life in 1990, and we have raised three amazing children together. In August 2005, our family's journey brought us to Canada, where we welcomed fresh chances in the energy sector were both continue with our professional careers. In 2023 my spouse and I in 2018 decided to leave the corporate world after over thirty years of employment.
My career as an engineer in the energy sector has provided me with not just technical know-how but also a strategic approach and a relentless pursuit of achievement. Yet, my life isn't confined to my professional endeavors. I take immense pride in nurturing my children as they follow their dreams and forge their own destinies. Outside of work and family, I find joy in activities like hiking and immersing myself in a good book, among other passions.
In addition, since 2021, I've also embraced the invigorating world of cold dips, adding yet another dimension to my array of interests and pursuits.
However, I have faced many difficulties and significant loss along the way. I have known the sorrow of saying goodbye to loved ones, including my youngest brother and my eldest sibling who lost their fights with illness, as the fourth child in a family of eight siblings. My mother's disabling stroke and my father's death serve as powerful reminders of the fleeting nature of life and the value of savoring each moment spent with the people we care about.
My family's support has given me strength and solace through life's hardships, and it has also motivated me to pursue financial independence. Our shared experiences—from treasured family getaways to enduring grieving—have emphasized the significance of resiliency, compassion, and gratitude. My strong desire to assist other women in achieving financial independence and fulfillment is what motivates me as I enter the world of early retirement. I hope to inspire and support others in creating their own fulfilling retirements by sharing my experience and lesson learned.
Let's take advantage of the countless opportunities that lie ahead and live our lives as we see fit.
