Identidad artística: explora tu propio estilo

I am excited to take this course! I am a 66-year-old whose first memories are of drawing feverishly on any surface I could find. Starting at around 3-years old, I drew fantastical monster and animals non-stop. My parents encouraged me; my father's JAMA magazine used to come in a brown wrapper, and I would utilize each one whenever it came in. I remember thinking, even into my middle school years, that if I lost the use of my hands it would kill me. I want to get back to that artistic drive.

It is great to see behind the scenes of one of my favorite artists Gary Baseman, his processes and influences. It is a bit more like an interview and less like a class but I used each video as a basis for structuring my own approach for the class.

Inspiring course, sometimes feels a little bit like interview more than a practical course. But still for 6£ it’s okay. Sure not my favourite and useful but still good

I really enjoyed how Gary uses his influences and life experiences to create his art. Also it gave me a sense of what I do, how I create is okay because it is a reflection of me!

This course really expanded my awareness of my own inner universe and opened my eyes to new, exciting directions for my art! Great course: I'm retaking it, today!

Really loved this course.❤️. It was so interesting learning how Gary creates his work and he definitely inspired me to persevere and find my own voice in drawing . Long way to go but he is a very motivational and very encouraging tutor. Particularly love the book he created in lockdown about his cat . Have wanted for a long time to get into illustration as have a story in my head relating to me and my childhood which must be done even if it stays a private story for family only

I liked it, and I returned to it after a few years to refresh the impression. You won't get any particularly useful practical tips, but you'll learn Gary's process and will get an opportunity to learn how his iconic characters were created. It's more about getting a different perspective rather than focusing on skills or techniques

There were so many aspects to this course to recommend it. First, Baseman is SUCH a cool artist. I love his aesthetic. But learning how his style developed and how he draws from childhood memories, family history, and other practices was amazing. His lessons helped me examine how my childhood, interests, and personal symbols can drive my creativity. Also, just watching him sketch and collage was truly lovely. Learning about and watching his process was inspiring.
