Mindy Rowland-Hess

Early retirement and covid, left me seeking out another form of artmaking. My interest in Interior Design and photography, combined with my Art History education steered me toward painting. I have started out with abstract acrylics and collages, on different canvas sizes. As in my decorating, I like to repurpose furniture and accessories, leaning towards mid-century modern. I have tried that same approach with my paintings. Picking up old or used canvases and sanding them down and covering them with gesso. I have found that my favorite color to paint with is blue. I talked with an artist and they suggested I try oil painting, but still staying with a more abstract style.
