So here it is - Silver Dream Machines: an illustrated version of the future.
This fanzine is a collection of drawings of tabletop games consoles of the early Eighties, mainly between 81-83. These games were a big part of my childhood. I played the vast majority of these games though I only owned one (Scramble) and though they may look dated now, with extremely basic LED or LCD displays, to me the space operas being played out on screen where as real as the kitchen table the console was placed upon.
From a technical point of view, this fanzine is not the one I intended to make in this course. My first idea was a full colour one but I don't have a colour printer, or the money to pay for it to be printed professionally right now. So, I decided to do one in monochrome and print it at home on my mono laser printer. Once I made that decision, the idea for the subject just popped into my head.
Making the fanzine was an enjoyable (and sometimes frustrating) process. Drawing it was easy compared to wrestling with my printer for five hours (it was my error, not the printer's...), but once I had all of the pages ready it was a simple production line task to put it together.
As a special little extra I made some bookmarks using rejected artwork and I'm pleased to say that I have sold nine to Twitter friends already. Thanks for this course, it was a very valuable experience.
Here you can see every page of the full fanzine, followed by a shot of the fanzine with the free bookmarks. There are five different versions of the bookmark for variety, with the alien attacker at varying levels of height above the missile base.

Teacher PlusIt turned out super sick Darren! And yes, I feel you when you say that it can get frustrating in some parts of the process hahaha
Anyway, I really like the concept, the art and the way you layed it out on the pages. Also, thanks for posting pictures of your production line and behind the scenes! Really enjoyable to see :)

@wardnia Thank you! There's a link in my profile to my website, and a link in there to my shop. I've made a silly Bee Gees one since then, I can't stop! I highly recommend the @deandaalfonso course, it's really good. Clear, informative and inspiring!
