Steven Doyle

In the early 1990s, I worked in Bucharest, Romania, providing care to children living with HIV/AIDS and those residing in the city's sewer system. With my camera always at hand, I documented their lives and the harsh realities they faced. My background as a general nurse, trained in Bucharest, has since led me to a career that bridges nursing, teaching, and photographic projects.

As a documentary and portrait photographer, I focus on social and public health issues. I am passionate about using my skills to document and raise awareness about the challenges surrounding HIV/AIDS, the housing crisis, and marginalized communities. My goal is to tell their stories and shed light on their struggles.

In 2019, I initiated an ongoing portraiture documentary project centered on people living with HIV. This project aims to dismantle the stigma and discrimination surrounding HIV while humanizing the individuals I have had the privilege to photograph.
