Shayan Nuradeen

I am Shayan Shahir Nuradeen and I am a visual artist based in Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq. I do mainly portrait photography, digital illustrations, murals and occasionally paintings.

My art work is inspired by people around me, old photographs, fashion photographs, body movements or it could come from pure imagination. It tries to persuade beauty in shape and color. I have a particular interest in ornamenting my subjects with big long hats, long hair braids, and I like experimenting with geometrics. There are many elements of the past that I try to revive it in my art works. Most of art works are about being together, supporting each other and unity.

While I have appreciation for most art works, I have particular interest in the impressionism and post impressionism portraits. I appreciate the diversity of Picasso’s style, Ingres’ portray of women and find so much beauty in the works of modern Italian artist Riccardo Guasco.

I try to live with passion and follow Salvador Dali’s passion each morning “Every morning up on awakening, I experience a supreme pleasure, that of being Salvador Dali, and I ask myself wonderstruck, what prodigious thing will he do today this Salvador Dali.”
