Classical drawing

I would like to share two studies that I did following my great passion of the old classics and specifically Leonardo da Vinci.
The first is a study of a study by the Master, the original is silverpoint on paper and my study is with chalks.
The second is a portrait on paper that I did during a live demo with model while I was teaching an in person workshop: Drawing with Leonardo.

You can see the materials that I used: charcoal, sanguine and white chalk on toned paper.

The all concept of 'Drawing with Leonardo' is to get to understand the Master with practical studies of his work. In this case I discovered that what initially looked like a drawing of hands in the original, has also a very complete study of the entire torso, that is represented with a few masterful lines. At the beginning I didn't see them and they just looked like some random casual lines, then the entire picture started to show while I was drawing it!

This portrait was realized on white paper, and If I were to do it now, I would probably tone the paper in advance as Leonardo would have done.
The materials used here are just charcoal, sanguine and black chalk.
