Jade Scott-Jones (she/her) aka Drawn to Colour is an Autistic, Queer, Mixed Raced (Chinese/English) Illustrator and Graphics Artist based in Surrey, England.
Growing up she spent her School Holiday time between the UK and Malaysia where her mother’s family lives, through this she became acutely aware of differences in Cultures at a young age. In School, she was one of three non-white students in her year and was bullied for it. Due to the impact of these events, she has become a person who is extremely passionate about equality for all.
In her 30s she was diagnosed as being Autistic which brought a huge amount of clarity to her understanding of self. She started learning about Neurodiversity and how it affects people and the issues that Neurodiverse people have trying to cope with in the wider world.
Jade is very invested in bringing awareness to issues such as Gender, Sexuality, Race, Neurodiversity, Body Image, and the Environment to the greater world and fighting for everyone's right to be themselves without prejudice in a world that we protect. She believes in empowering people, breaking down stereotypes, and educating others.
Jade uses her art to help express her views on Equality, and the Environment, simplifying things into manageable sections. She wants to grab people’s attention with her art and start opening doors for conversations about these topics.
Jade enjoys the process of creating art, going through ideas, and sketches, and creating the final piece of work. She likes to use a wide range of materials to create her ideas. Including Digital, Paint, ink, and Pencil. She believes that each medium brings its own style to the image and helps bring it to life.
