Mazen El Shirbeeny

Hello, my name is Mazen. I have studied Architecture and Enviromental Design in the Arab Academy of Science and Technology in Alexandria. I graduated already with a Bachelor's in Architecture and Enviromental Design. Ever since I were young I used to be obsessed with comics specially DC, I used to buy weekly a comic book and I never cared about the subtitles, I just liked looking at the pictures and re-draw them in some paper or sketch. I never knew that I am aiming for Architecture until I had to apply for college and I wanted to choose something that gives you the freedom of thinking since I had being entitled to science or guide-lines that I must follow. So Architecture was kind of the freedom of speech to me because you can basically design anything you want in any shape without any rules, whether it's real or just a concept. I really enjoy regular figures, sharp edges, and irregular shapes as long as it's not curved. Since I really like being abstract and minimalistic so sharp edges are what I feel like doing. Also I really also aim for not being commercial, I like having my own taste that not everyone has which is why I am one of the few people around me that actually knows about Saul Kim. I am always searching for underground architects/designers/artists because they really inspire me more than the very famous ones. Being NON commercial and having a very unique way of how I think is really what makes me alive and want to be an architect.
