Born in Athens, Greece, lived and studied for 11 years in London, UK and now I am back to Greece. I have studied Interior Architecture in London and Restoration of works of Art in Athens. Neither of these studies won me over enough to become my permanent job, as my love for textiles didn't "allow" me to concentrate on anything else, but needles, thread, yarn and fabrics.
I started my experimentation with fabric and yarn while I was still a student, in my 20s, with loom weaving, frame loom weaving and dyeing of yarns with natural materials. I then experimented with free form machine sewing of women's bodies and faces that I sketched. Soon, I learned how to crochet and knit, two things that I wanted to do since I was a teenager and i was so excited! It was what I wanted to do, so I started designing crochet dolls.
Since I returned to Greece from UK, speaking my native language felt like absolute paradise, so I wanted to attend any possible class that I was interested in. I did traditional embroidery, micro weaving and yarn dyeing, eco printing, shibori and ikat.
For the last two years, I am exploring the fantastic new world of designing and making clothes and now I am naturally getting towards the combination of all my passions in one. I don't know how feasible this is and I know I have a long way until it all ties together, but it is the journey that counts.
