Hello everyone,
I am a bridal couturier based in Northern England. I have a company, specialising in custom bridal wear and also teach pattern-cutting at Nottingham Trent University..... totally unrelated to writing childrens fiction! But my earlier background was in designing and creating historical period costume for theatre, film and TV.
I am enrolling on this course because I want to begin a writing journey and have a couple of different ideas that I wish to explore. In addition to my full-time work, I want to develop and improve my own writing, hoping that one day I can begin to publish. I find reading and writing to be enjoyable past-times and a way to decompress and shake off the day. I often find myself observing a scene, or people-watching from a distance, whilst simultaneously translating what I see into verse or rhyme. I take inspiration from what I see around me, in the daily trivial moments, in the seemingly mundane, in the familiar...... and believe that, for children, this can be recorded and expressed in a new and imaginative way.
