I've always had an interest in art. In elementary school in Columbus Nebraska, my work was often "on show". One year, the art teacher displayed some of my drawings at a talent festival without my knowledge. At first I was embarrassed and angered by the surprise display, but when Superior Blue Ribbons were handed out, it placed a different light on things.
I studied art under the tutelage of Mary Abts Dodendorf while in elementary and high schools. I did my first painting at age 11. It was a cardinal, a gift to my mother. later I found myself assisting my art teacher in repair and painting of church artifacts. Further instruction was gained at Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma and with private instructors.
My artwork has been displayed in studio. museums and art show in Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Florida and of course, Louisiana At the urging of one of my collectors, I did a One Man Exhibition of Artwork in 2022, midyear. It was just a 2 hour show, by invitation only. I was surprised to sell 16 paintings and took 4 commissions. I followed that in the fall of the year with another, and have done two more this year. The result of 4 two hour shows was the sale of over 40 pieces of artwork. Now I am exploring other avenues of promoting my work.
