Hi ! As far as I remember, either in the books where I learned to read as a small kid or later in the history books, I have always been fascinated by the power of image. There are so many painters I admire, almost all of them in fact ! To name but a few :
Dürer, Chardin (even if he is not a watercolourist!), Constable, Turner, Delacroix, Cezanne (his oil paintings are like plodding the earth, his watercolours like a very very light breeze), Toulouse-Lautrec, etc, etc. I discovered also Anders Zorn exhibited in Paris not so long ago : gorgeous !
I am also interested in the work of some XXth century illustrators, such as Martin Lewis : I love the way he masters shadow and light !
Painting is a universe which can produce such a variety of émotions that it’s sometimes stronger than life itself !
My own expérience as a would-be painter, switching from a medium to another, leaving brushes for months or years, has often been very frustrating with rare moments of true pleasure, but I know that those moments do exist, and this is why I keep on trying, And this is why I am so eager to receive advices from artists teaching their art with sincerity and generosity. Thank you David for that !
