Creative Fashion Illustration Techniques

Taking Connie Lim's course was such an inspiring experience. It still feels a little surreal to bring illustration and collage making together in a way that feels true to me. These are two things I genuinely love, and seeing them come together through fashion was incredibly rewarding.

Below I shared my influence and collage that I compiled.

For this project, I worked with a sketchbook, markers, oil pastels, pens, pencils, and washi tape.

I initially captured the body figure from my reference and just let my imagination take over from there. Turning it into a gown felt natural as I worked around the limited sources I had and made the most of what was available.

I’d say I still managed to capture the idea of the figure, the silhouette, and the details I wanted to incorporate into the illustration.

Using my model reference as a guide, I explored different textures and details in the illustration. I also enjoyed working on the background and adding my own mark-making throughout the piece.
