Ellen Niemann

I am largely self taught as an artist, having experience in calligraphy, mixed media, and watercolor. I discovered I liked drawing as a small child – when my maternal gramma would draw simple pictures and I would copy them.
I have practiced and taught calligraphy for over 30 years, studied at the IAMPETH conference with international teachers. That stands for International Associationn of Master Penmen, Engrossers, and Teachers of Handwriting. I am a past member of the Cream City Calligraphers in Milwaukee and presently a member of the Pen Dragons Calligraphy Guild in Kalamazoo. I also enjoy the art critique group here at LACA.
Presently my artwork focuses on watercolor florals. The piece “Tea and Company” was created about 30 years ago.
I have been accepted into Art On The Town Gallery in Pentwater and will begin selling watercolors there in 2021.
As life was happening, I was unable to pursue art seriously until I retired from nursing. Now I am incandescently happy. I enjoy gardening and live in Ludington, Michigan, with my husband Noel (a consummate Green Bay Packer fan), and our two cats.
