Introduction
As I am new to flower arranging (Japanese or otherwise) I decided to just use what was in the garden, which wasn't much as it is the end of September.

Supplies
I have three types of plants: Cotoneaster (the tall one), bay (Laurus nobilis) and Osteospermum (African Daisy).
There is a little bit of wire holding the two flowers together to make a stronger base, a plastic kenzan and a glass fruit bowl.

I think this is pretty and represents the end of summer and beginning of autumn. Some of the bay leaves have been eaten by bugs, but that is fine. I did cut off some of the brown, dead leaves though.
And when the cat comes in I am sure that she will drink the water, and headbutt the Cotoneaster as it's her favourite bush she hides in.
