Introduction
Diana Rikasari brought her quirky, color‑packed upcycling vision to life in “The Upcycling Diary,” a mini exhibition hosted at ASHTA District 8, Jakarta. The showcase ran from 25 March to 10 April 2022 and spotlighted her innovative artistry in transforming discarded materials into wearable, sustainable fashion.

Supplies
The exhibition displayed creative installations and fashion pieces crafted entirely from recycled and secondhand materials; secondhand plushies, bedsheets, tea towels, wigs, fabric scraps, and other repurposed objects such as used plastic bottle caps, strainer cups, bowls, water hose, etc. Diana wove these fragments into expressive, one‑of‑a‑kind garments and artful installations.

Why Education Matters
“The Upcycling Diary” wasn’t just about aesthetics. It served as an educational platform, aiming to raise awareness about the environmental impact of the fashion industry, and the potential each individual holds to make a difference through conscious consumption. Diana’s exhibition unfolded as a sustainable manifesto, inviting viewers to rethink waste, fashion, and creativity. By using material with history and memory, each piece invited visitors to reflect on the stories behind garments and the act of transformation. The exhibition lived at the intersection of installation and wearable art, turning exhibition visitors into potential participants in a sustainable, creative dialogue.
