Sheila Calder

I am an artist/designer living in the Lammermoors in East Lothian, about 25 miles from Edinburgh, with my partner David. We have one daughter, Janina, currently living and studying in Edinburgh.
My practise is influenced by my surroundings; the landscape, trees, skies, and also in the beaches of Scotland. I have been an inveterate beachcomber since I was five years old. I work using a mixed media of watercolour, inks, acrylics and procion dyes, and appliquéd textiles, kantha stitching and found objects. Recently I have started growing plants for dyeing in a more sustainable way.
