Introduction
I saw this image when I was looking for a reference, and really liked it.

Give yourself a hug
I started with the grid, did the outline, blocked in some of the dark areas, then worked on the shading and detail.
I looked at this as a piece of artwork instead of a drawing.

beautiful work! Im glad you went for something that resonated with you, it can play a big roll in staying motivated to finish the project. I noticed your grid lines are quite dark, did you have some trouble getting rid of them? or is it just the photo?
I think you can also experiment with the observation around the spine, the vertebra are such a wonderful opportunity to create an illusion of highlights and shadow. If you still have energy for it, try using your kneadable eraser to create a small highlight in the middle of your current highlight, as well as adding a very slight shadow in your existing shadow of the vertebra. If you do this, please make sure to do it with an experimental mindset, step back after you make the marks and see if you can see how the illusion works. Imagine the light shining onto the figure in the drawing.
