Lana Hunneyball

I never thought of myself as an artist. My mother is one, and we grew up believing it was no way to try and make a living. Creative writing became my passion, and I see myself as a writer. One day in my twenties, I was sitting with my mom chatting and said, hey, I'd like to try and paint. And there it was - a raw talent. I was delighted and spent the next years dabbling, always promising myself to develop. A few art classes here, a bit of pottery there. Always just having fun.

In 1997 I started my own business designing educational and communication materials for adult learners. It involved literally hundreds of cartoon drawings over the years, but still, I never thought of myself as an artist. Which is quite funny if you think about it.

A couple of years ago I wrote a 2000 word rhyming story and have been struggling to find the right illustrator. My family kept saying "do it yourself", but I didn't feel equipped. Then I saw the Domestika advert, and felt drawn to Marija's authentic vibe and her style. I thought that if I do this course, it might help give me the courage (and some new skills) to kickstart me in a new direction. I will always be a writer first, but boy, do I have soooo many pictures in my head I would love to see in the flesh!

So here we go. I look forward to having a lot of fun. :)
