I normally use 3D software to make things that need to interlock, slide, and such feasible in real life. Siemens NX is the best, SolidWorks makes the job too, Rhinoceros is a slick tool to work with. CATIA is just not, but sometimes you just have to.
I want to get my hands on 2D, so I can empty the blob on top of my spine and actually see what's on the other side of the moon.
