Heidi von Hase

I live in Swakopmund, Namibia , and am originally from German decent.
My mother was born in Tanzania , my father in Germany, both emigrated to South Africa in their childhood and met up in Vryheid, Kwazulu Natal, where I was born.
I married my husband Raimar at the young age of 19 and together we settled on a sheep farm in the South of Namibia . Four daughters were born before I reached the age of thirty - and by my mid thirties I had an early
"empty nest syndrome " as the children left for boarding school.
With time on my hands I started community based handcraft venture with unemployed women from the neighbouring village of Hoachanas. Soon this small employment project grew into a fully fledged business, we produced unique hand embroidered linen which found its way into many homes all over the world.
35 years later the business transitioned into the next generation and I am now again finding myself with time on my hands .
My passion through the years has always been creating beautiful objects and surroundings - we lived in many houses which I had the chance to renovate and style to my aesthetic standards
My other big love is for cooking and writing - our family is known for amazing food and joyful sharing ..
