Um curso de Aljoscha Blau
Aljoscha Blau is an artist, author, and university professor of drawing and illustration. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, he left his hometown of St. Petersburg in Russia to study illustration and fine arts in Hamburg. Now settled in Berlin, he specializes in children's books and picture books. With some 60 illustrated and written works, his goal remains to bring individual value to each one with a personalized illustration style. He generally stays true to his favorite medium: gouache.
What appeals to him about the genre of the picture book, is the special responsibility of the illustrator to translate content that previously existed only in abstract linguistic form into the visual. Aljoscha considers his projects to be intellectual adventures in which there is room for surprise, elements of the grotesque, and humor, often expressing messages through details and inviting his audience to contemplate them at their leisure. His publications, in collaboration with German and international publishers such as Peter Hammer, Aufbau, NordSüd, and Bajazzo, have won international accolades including the German Youth Literature Prize and the renowned BolognaRagazzi Award. In Multitalent Gouache, he shows us all his practices and techniques for illustrating with gouache.
