I grew up in the coastal town of Brunswick Heads NSW Australia. I have always loved the ocean. The beach has always been a healing place for me. I have also always enjoyed the visual arts. I have explored media such as watercolours, silk painting, on-glaze and most recently cyanotype printing.
After almost 40 years I have returned to my childhood place, Brunswick Heads.
I feel a deep connection for this coastal place both from my Celtic ancestry and listening and learning from indigenous friends and elders.
When I was a child whaling was in living memory of most people and the numbers of humpback whales declined significantly. The numbers of humpback whales have now increased and each year in the winter months it is possible to see the whales on their migratory path from the southern waters heading north. I have seen whales here and in South Australia from the shoreline. It is such a privilege.
I am interested in whale conservation and illustration. As I near retirement age, I would like to use illustration if possible in research projects.
