MY PROFILE

Texas-born and God-blessed, I’m a travel-loving, older-than-dirt lady. From a line of ranchers, Pony Express rider, Cherokee judge, Texas Rangers Captain, and who knows what all else. Oh the stories I could tell…in fact, my art and cards are full of prayers and memories.

I enjoyed art and crafts from a very young age. However, I wasn't really that good at drawing. After I trusted Christ as my sinbearer when I was 30 years old, my art began to bloom, and for the first time I was able to sell my paintings at galleries.

However, in 1990 I had a series of strokes. All of a sudden I could no longer do the same kind of art, which was basically realistic. Instead, I was able to develop collages, although I have sold almost nothing since that time. However, I really enjoy being creative. I would rather do art than eat or shop. It's much more fun. (Exodus 35:35)

In the past my husband and I were able to travel to many other countries and this has always been an interest of mine from early childhood. We lost our camera and all our pictures of India. So, the first journal I ever made was of our trip there. The book I most enjoyed developing is one of artwork and Bible verses inspired by my highlighted portions of The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence. Right now I am most interested in developing a journal based on screen shots from the TV series The Chosen.

My husband, who is also my dear caregiver, completely remodeled the interior from 70’s modern. And now he is into more creativity, since I gave him a computerized woodcarving machine. While I’m doing collages in our sun porch, he is in the garage, carving and creating lots of sawdust.

I enjoy doing all sorts of crafts, whether it be jewelry, photography, collages, ad infinitum. As for other interests, for years my ministry was leading Christian recovery groups. Now with my limitations, my ministry is limited to making handmade encouraging note cards. Since I no longer sell my artwork, I save space by putting it into books and booklets which are made by hand. No more piles of paintings stacked under the bed. To paraphrase an old saying in Spanish, my life is narrow but wide.
