Ben Skinner

My name is Ben, I have always been passionate about designing things since I was young! At school I was really interested in Art, but never very good at the traditional sense of portrait drawing and still life for example. As soon as I discovered graphic design I instantly knew that that was what I wanted to do.

I've been working as a freelance graphic designer for nearly 2 years full time, and I also built up some experience in my in-house roles working with coding for some front end development such as HTML, CSS and some JQuery.

In the last few years, I've become really interested in 3D, motion design and anything tech related such as sci-fi imagery or visual art I also find really inspirational. Part of finding what makes my freelancing business different, is quite similar to your approach in that I'm really passionate about making bespoke brand experiences that would be quite hard to replicate, and give the client a really unique look and something that's really crafted and beautiful.

I was really blown away by your work, and I didn't realize that you could create the sort of artwork you've been developing with Javascript. I was thinking not long ago that I'd like to get back into growing my coding knowledge, and your course sounded really exciting and I'm looking forward to learning from you.

Some of my inspiration is a few design agencies that have a real artistic style such as ManvsMachine and Stegan Sagmeister. Also graphics for games design has always been some of my earliest memories of design and visual art, specifically the Wipeout, Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil games on the Playstation back in the 90s had really futuristic artwork for the time I thought.
