I have loved arts and crafts and miniatures since I was very young. At seven, I read "The Borrowers" and made my Barbie-like doll her own simple house, with shoe boxes for rooms and little throw-away items dressed up for furniture, along the floor of my long closet. While living in Belgium during the 1980s, I collected miniatures to furnish a doll house I put together from a kit. Lately I've regained interest in miniatures, especially in painting old dollhouse furniture, or sometimes the newer, cheap pieces available now, making one-of-a-kind artisan pieces. I love chalk painting life-size furniture, so am beginning to try that on mini furniture now. I started selling on eBay around the year 2000 to support my passion at that time, making artisan jewelry. One day I walked into an art gallery and asked if they would accept my work, and they did! But I found that my eBay items were selling better than my jewelry, so just worked hard to build that business up. The craving to create has gotten to me lately, though, and during Covid, I became fascinated once more with miniatures, especially after being inspired by several FaceBook miniature groups. Meanwhile, I've been buying and reselling lots of furniture and accessories, mostly for 1:12 size dollhouses, and keeping out some to repaint. Most of the styles are older, so when I saw your ad to create modern pieces, I got very excited and purchased the class right away. I am already enthralled. Thank you for offering it.
