My project for course: Contemporary Botanical Illustration with Ink

I greatly enjoyed this course. I'm not new to working with ink; I actually draw botanicals in pen and ink all the time, but I wanted to do this course to try something new and something a bit more modern. I enjoyed combining different techniques and materials and combining the natural forms with geometrical shapes. I do have to practice using gold leaf! I used cheep gold leaf and it was a nightmare! LOL I ended up painting over it with gold paint, because it looked horrible. Even though I quite like my end project, I like the sunflower I drew more, because it is just more me if you will. I personally don't really like the dry brush effect on the big leaves and just love drawing ALL the details! LOL! It was actually a nice discovery that I really love drawing botanicals the way I do and that I don't have to, or want to, copy someone else's style. So thanks you very much for this course. I will certainly use geometrical shapes with my botanicals more often, because that was really an eye-opener for me. I do love your work and enjoy looking at it!
