planta’t consists of a disc of cork mixed with seeds and natural binder with the aim of being able to self-cultivate it at home and also to introduce nature into the home because cork has some very beneficial properties, such as the following.

I. Elastic and compressible
II. Impermeable to liquid
III. Thermal and acoustic insulation
IV. Hypoallergenic
V. Natural touch

Since it is a very experimental project, it has been a process with many ups and downs. When analyzing the problem at the beginning we did not think that it would be possible to join cork shavings with seeds and also that these would germinate floating in the water.

Initially, we decided to use egg yolk as a natural binder since it was the option that best suited us from the research we had done. When we carried out the first test, we realized that our product is in continuous contact with water and therefore, the yolk would break down.

Therefore, we had to look for alternatives for a binder such as neutral gelatin, agar-agar and soy wax to keep the product organic.

From all the tests we have done, we can conclude that soy wax is the binder that has worked best for us although it has not been perfect, therefore, the next steps would be to investigate and generate ourselves a binder for this product.
