I've been crocheting for over 40 years now. I basically taught myself to crochet...with a little encouragement from my best friend's mom, Ruth. I'm left-handed, and I crochet back-to-front through loops, instead of the typical front-to-back that I see all over the internet now. Somehow, it all works for me and I get good results. I just do it the opposite way to almost everyone I know who also crochets. A few years ago, I had a terrifically positive response to a picture I posted on Facebook of a crocheted Christmas tree skirt I made. From then on, I've been making things off-and-on for other people, including the crocheted pumpkins depicted on my cover image. Recently, I've been developing a pattern for crocheted gloves using the continuous rounds method.
