I have loved all things creative all my life. I started drawing and painting as a child. I recieved a four year art scholarship but was counseled to pursue a more stable career. I became a nurse.
I never left my creative side finding opportunities to be artistic in all i do.
My favorite medium and subject is oil painting portraits. I will use charcoal, pastels and colored pencils to push my skills.
My husband and i live in a community to lift those finding themselves chronically homeless off the streets into a home and community called Community First Village ( can be seen on You Tube). It is here that i find my love of portraits a home to work. I do commissions out in the city but focus on my neighbors. Living among my neighbors allows me to photo and pull out their charm and catch their strength and spirit.
I love using the paint to cause the eye to fill in what it knows and create a likeness.
I am always pushing myself to new challenges with the brush. I want to use less brush strokes, less blending , less true flesh tones with more use of value and delicious colors.
