My dad was a printer and my earliest memories are of playing with paper scraps in the printshop. My older sister and I made wonderful flowers from the edges cut off bound tablets of business forms, decorated pictures with punchouts from greeting cards, and used paste to add flocking. I have loved the smell of paper, ink, and books ever since then.
I have been a mom and a school teacher. One of my last assignments was to teach writing to upper elementary students. In December 2019 I resigned from my teaching position due to a back injury. After surgery, I have been told by my doctor that I should not return to work. I have made pop-up cards with my students, and a few simple pop-up books. Now I want to learn more about paper engineering and continue to make cards and books in a more professional way.
