Mariana Vaz-Freire

I am 33 years old, living and working in Évora, a small town in southern Portugal, in a region called Alentejo. Over the last few years, I have been working freelance as a proof-reader in Portuguese for several publishers and also full-time as a project manager and brand promoter for a public entity which aims to attract tourists into our region by creating tourism products and promoting them. Recently, I've been assigned the responsibility to prepare some content for our Instagram and Facebook pages, so I felt the need to know a bit more about copywriting, which is a kinda new field for me, although I've done it before without much thought. I have a bachelor's degree in English and American Studies and a master's degree in Cultural Practices for Municipalities. I'm passionate about music (I sing in a vocal group since I was 15 years old and I have also learned some vocal jazz basics), travelling, food, dogs and poetry (I actually do write a bit). Portuguese is my mother-tongue, with which I feel more comfortable to play with and whose subtleties please me the most. I have also worked as a translator (EN-PT). Professionally, I am hoping to become more independent and eventually start doing what I'm good at, instead of accepting every task I'm given with unrealistic deadlines and goals. I hope this course will help me get a little further at this.
