Lydia Higginson

Hello, My name is Lydia I am a seamstress and I only wear clothes I have made. I have not bought a single item of clothing from a shop in over six years! I called the project Made My Wardrobe. It started as personal journey to reconnect with my body and has turned into a full time business sharing my clothes making skills with anyone who wants to make their dream wardrobe. We now have a team of six who design patterns, kits and courses to make sewing accessible and creative. We have a beautiful sewing studio in Bristol, England. My mum taught me to sew when I was a little girl. When I finished school I started an apprenticeship to learn how to design and make garments. My background is in costume for theatre, dance and live performance. I am fortunate to have worked with some of the most prestigious theatres in the UK such as Sadler's Wells and The Royal Opera House.

Some of my favourite projects have come from working with my closest friends and I am lucky enough to be surrounded by a community of makers who inspire me constantly. My favourite thing about sewing is that there is always more to learn.
