Janine Joles

I'm a self-taught ceramic artist specialising in hand-built sculpture and structural vessels. Working from my studio in the Overberg, my practice spans both figurative and functional ceramics. Each piece is built by hand using traditional slab-building techniques, moving from initial sketch to finished ceramic form. My process is slow and intuitive, allowing ideas to evolve alongside the material itself. My work balances craftsmanship with experimentation, bridging the space between narrative sculpture and contemporary functional art.
