Gerard O'Brien

Hey! I'm an Irish guy living in Edinburgh, Scotland. I am passionate about sketching/drawing and have been keeping sketch books for the last twenty years. In terms of what I do, I started out as a Zoology student at Trinity College Dublin but after graduating moved into landscape architecture, becoming a Chartered Landscape Architect in 2006. I have also been a lecturer in garden and landscape design at a Scottish college and the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh. I am now a Senior Design Officer at Architecture & Design Scotland. I want to try my hand at illustration at least as part of my work because when asked recently what my ideal job would be I said to "to draw all day". I would also like to teach again as I am very interested in people. My main interest in drawing are landscapes, buildings and natural history. I've just started the course and it looks great! I want to learn to turn my sketches into more illustrative work and concentrate on project development instead of just sketching.
