I'm half way through this course and it has suprassed my expectations! Clear explanations of animal sketching how-to which are very useful to me as a complete beginner.

Very hard and not very clear. The filming is also at an angle so you can't actually follow along and draw. Did not learn what I expected to. It feels like the filming style deliberately obstructs the teaching - would not recommend.

She is a very talented illustrator. However, I don't think that this course taught me something. It just felt like I was watching her create this beautiful illustration (which was nice), but the course didn't give me any knowledge that I can apply to my own art

Julie Mellan's illustrations are wonderful.. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing how she puts together form and position of the characters. I feel like I could look up the anatomy for any animal and make a believable character illustration. I would have loved a little more attention on the characters expression and how to add facial features. That being said, I'm off to take her other course! Thank you Julie!

This was super useful for someone like me who doesn't have any experience. I loved it!

The step-by-step guide, beginning with real animal anatomy and working toward anthropomorphizing was amazing. As we went along, I realized that you can't truly understand how to make dynamic picture book animal characters without understanding how their real-life counterparts act, move, etc. It has me thinking about illustration from a whole new perspective. Thank you!

Saw the recommended episode. Makes me want to draw illustrations for children's stories immediately. In case you want to use it for further design work.

I thoroughly enjoyed this course and it will be one that I revisit a few times. I took this course because I am a puppeteer and sculptor, so I love animation and character design, but I have always struggled when translating my 3D character work into 2D artistic mediums. Learning the basic principles of how to do this has really helped! The resources are beginner friendly and the teaching is clear and relaxed, making it very accessible and non-intimidating as a place to start in illustration.

The course is well structured and informative.
The initial classes were easy to follow. But as we go, the class and the instructions were hard to follow. It could be my own limitation rather than the course content quality.
I chose this course expecting that I could do at least some simple illustrations after completing the course. But it was not the case. The course need to have more examples and more content

I enjoyed a lot! Julie is very talented and I learned so much. wish this course will have even more chapters. love the Idea of the projects, and the Forum where I can share my drawings and ideas. I definitely recommend this course. I have to say that this is my first ever drawing course, and my expectations fulfilled!
