Either way, I strongly suggest you take the time to gather inspiration and make a unique project of your own. Make sure to keep track of your progress with different pictures of each step. It'd be great if you could also explain the choices you've made along the way and tell us if you have any doubts. This will help me guide you better if you need advice. Here are the main steps to follow: The Mood Board Make a mood board that will inspire you to create the best character possible. I recommend gathering a large variety of poses, clothing, items, and things to spark unique ideas.

The Thumbnail Sketch Draw different variations of your character in thumbnail-sized sketches. Then, pick your favorite. Remember to start small. If you make any mistakes, start a new one. Be sure to vary each pose, then select the one which suits you best. The Penciled Sketch Sketch your character, starting light and sticking to a pose reference from your mood board. Once you're happy with the general structure, refine the details. Add the clothing and the hair later. Always use a lighter shade of pencil to start off with and then progress to darker colors once you've established the base structure. The Inked Drawing Now it's time to ink! Start with the frontal objects and work your way backward. Begin with light strokes. You can always add darker lines later. Be sure to practice with the warm-up sheet. That way, you'll be more confident going into your piece. The Digital Stage Take photos of your piece to export into Photoshop. Then, clean up the linework and darken it. This will make it easier to remove the paper and pencil from the ink drawing. Lastly, mask the character with the "Magic Wand" tool to produce a silhouette that can be filled with color. Don't forget you can also add additional colored layers to change up the mood of your piece. And that's all!
