I started working with stone 15yrs ago when I started a job making granite kitchen worksurfaces. Initially I fell in love with the workshop environment and discovered a love for creating and making. It was only after a few years of working with stone that I developed a passion for the material as well, which today shares equal importance for me as the process.
Over the years I have trained as a stone mason, letter carver, historic restoration carver, and sculptor. The broad range of skills I’ve accumulated through my training gives me a unique dexterity for my craft. I find adding to those skills helps to keep me inspired and excited by what I do. I think the passion for creating is a very deeply rooted part of me and my sculpting and carving is my outlet for that.
After living in Southeast Asia for two years I also discovered a love for geometric pattern. Combining this new interest with carving was an exciting time and is now the work I am best known for. I aim for a high level of accuracy in my carvings because for me this makes the finished work visually satisfying to look at. It is difficult to achieve this level but is a challenge I relish!
I now live in Hampshire, England with my husband and son, I spend as much time as possible sculpting in my lovely studio. I sell work through galleries as well as taking on private commissions.
