MISS KATY Meehan

Hi I'm Mizmoffet I'm from Hobart Tasmania Australia. I grew up in the 60s as a small child and my teenage years were the 70s leaving high school in 1979. I lived after that with several Hippies which made up a big part of my identity and where Im at today. I have op shopped or in other words thrift shopped since 1980 and never stopped.
I sang and had a career which let me travel from op shop to op shop over Australia and hoarded a terrible lot of things I loved. I began sewing, knitting and tye dying at age 45 and embellishing and making different things from clothing. I'm not a brilliant sewer I am still learning at 59 and a half.
Adelaide used to be my favorite place to op shop when I was 16 to 20 yrs old on the main street of Semaphore near the beach I would catch the train there and go up one side of the main street and down the other side then catch the train back home it was thrilling with bags full of hippie clothes from 50 cents to $2.00 each AUD.
I stopped sewing for a few years because I developed Duputens Contracture in both hands around 2018 otherwise called viking disease handed down to me from my ancestors from Denmark. When I knew it wasn't from my obsessive overdoing of crafting I took it back up again last year 2021.
I am born from Tasmanian Convicts sent out from England Wales Ireland and Jamaica with a possibility of aboriginal ancestry yet to be proved.
at 50 I got myself dreadlocks extensions and found the rebel in me again in my menopausal days. I now have my own, I was always a bottle blonde through my younger years and someone who loved bright colours but since getting my dreads I gravitated toward earthy colours more in my natural brown hair colour now turning Gray.
I love music I love creating music and songwriting I love creating clothes to wear and sell at local country markets and wear on stage. I have never been so willing to learn than now and this was just the project I was looking for to work with vintage fabrics, tea towels and tablecloths and so on. I love them they are all from my childhood memory era.
