I was born to an Anglican minister in Cambridge UK, 1949. Blessed with three brothers and two sisters, I was sent to boarding school 1960, aged 11 yrs. The school restricted adventurous and creative characters, so in 1967, due to my apparent 'overreach' whilst producing a play for a competition, and after a short lived but huge saga, my headmistress expelled me.
My father took me away from the school before the head misstress could record the events in my portfolio and he arranged private tutoring for me at home. A year later I spent 18 months in France as AuPair where I learned the language and received top marks in my French exam. Miraculously, this earned me a place to train as a teacher 1969 -1972, during which time I regained my self confidence.
During three years teaching in the UK I met the man of my dreams. We married and we moved to Germany 1975. My husband opened my eyes to the world, taking me and our three boys on wonderful vacations to Italy, Greece and beyond. In 2003 he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and died only four weeks later. He had become a popular speaker around the world and is missed greatly by all who knew him.
One of our sons is married and has 3 kids in USA, another in UK, married with 2 teenagers and my third is a professional guitarist, still single, but lives not far away, in the town where I live.
My motivation to write...
1) My love is teach young children and I have written songs and short stories for this reason.
2) Many have asked me to write a book about my husband. As much as the desire is there, the task seems overwhelming. However, I have begun interviews and have my husband's own (short) life story on video which gives me a framework to use.
Hopefully I will pick up some helpful tips during your course!
