Marton Kopcsik

Im a Budapest based producer, sound engineer, musician and studio owner, working on numerous successful folk, jazz & world music production. Im available online for remote mixing, mastering, and music producing, or co-producing. I have two different musical projects, called Meybahar and Presense Live Act. Im looking for collaborations with directors, film makers, animation and creatives who we can resonate and work together.

I feel I always had a very sensitive visual perspective of the music, the sounds, focusing on the emotions and the flow of creation. Im always looking for learning and happy to find new friendships and professional relations.

I was started to play the violin when I was ten. Next to the basics of the Classical music studying and chamber
music experiences his main focus turned to the traditional music of different cultures, such as North Indian Classical, Persian, Turkish, Greek,and Armenian music. I was travelling in different countries in a self organised way, heated by my interest of music, cultural and social life, contacting with different people, recording and collecting music from Greece through Egypt to Tibet. After I completed my studies acquiring diploma as a sound engineer, my main field become ethnic, jazz, and world music.

As a freelancer live engineer I started in an experimental band called Bélaműhely, where we created and designed the sound of our instruments by our hand from industrial and home garbages. That was my first experience of sound design. Few years later I had chance to work for 10 years long with one of my favourite violin player from Hungary, called Félix Lajkó and work with him and travel all around the world on live shows and work in the studio. We made many successful award winning albums together. Next to him I had chance to work with many great artist like Jojo Mayer, Ferenc Snétberger (ECM) Chris Potter (ECM), Huun Huur Tu, Mohammad Reza Mortazavi , Sokratis Sinopoulos (ECM) and many others in the best concert places.

As a recording and mixing engineer I was collaborated with many well known world music & jazz artists from Hungary such as Félix Lajkó, Miklós Lukács, Mihály Dresch, Mihály Borbély and make their CD albums. I made symphonic orchestra recording, and experimental ambient music.

As a musician, I joined to the community of Labyrinth Musical Workshop since 2013, and participate seminars in Crete, depening my knowledge about one of my main interest the contemprorary modal music. Im also a founder of an ambient music project called "Presense Live Act" since 2015. In 2016 we founded together with Marilia Pilti Greek santouri player the band, called "Meybahar" and made our first EP called "Abyss". We organise 5 successful music events in Budapest based Fonó, called “Meybahar Evenings” and invite to perform and work together worldwide known musicians such as Ross Daly & Kelly Thoma, Haig Yazdjian, and Martha Mavroidi.
