Introduction
My clients gave me free reign for the design of this mosaic commission. As it was to be installed on a pantry floor, this seemed like the perfect opportunity to design my own 'Unswept Floor' mosaic, which is a traditional concept dating back to Ancient Rome. 'Unswept floor' mosaics were often installed into dining areas, to give the impression food had been discarded onto the floor during a lavish feast.
My clients loved the idea, and asked their children for their imput on what they'd like to be incorporated into the final design - hence the addition of the little mouse nibbling the food. The finished design is a contemporary take on a traditional design, and has a classical aesthetic.

Supplies
Unglazed-ceramic tiles.
Process
As this mosaic was going to be installed as a floor, I fabricated it using the reverse method-on-paper. This ensures that the finished mosaic is smooth and flat.

Original Design
I created the design using Adobe Pro-create.
