hello everyone!
My journey began in 2000 when I passed the Fine Arts faculty exams but chose to pursue Geomatics Engineering instead. During my university years, I audited fine arts classes, practiced charcoal composition under the guidance of art historian Berke Inel, and immersed myself in John Berger’s Ways of Seeing and Goethe’s Theory of Colours. However, my path soon gravitated toward abstract mathematics, topology, Bezier curves, and 3D remote sensing.
Academically and professionally, my life has been dedicated to modeling data, infrastructure mapping, and scanning the physical world. My master's thesis focused on 3D point cloud modeling for terrestrial laser scanners—heavily inspired by Hugues Hoppe's foundational theories on surface reconstruction—and was published at the prestigious XXIII International CIPA Symposium in Prague (2011). Over the years, I have worked on major underwater laser scanning restorations, authored papers presented worldwide (from China to the UK), and engineered complex hydraulic projects—including the Water Master Plan for Istanbul and satellite-based water detection with Asterra.
After decades of turning chaotic digital data points into smooth mathematical surfaces, I have returned to my artistic roots. I chose Watercolor because it represents the ultimate challenge: a medium where I must negotiate with the very element I spent my career mapping—Water. Here, I share my self-taught art journey, turning fluid, unorganized watercolor droplets into structures of light and shadow.
