İrem Yazıcı

Hi, I’m İrem Yazıcı, a self-taught embroidery artist living in Eskişehir, Turkey. I started stitching back in 2014 as a way to explore my creativity, and over time it turned into my biggest passion. I love building imaginary worlds and characters through embroidery, often combining techniques like thread painting, stump work, and appliqué. My work is influenced by surrealism, fantastic art, pets, birds, interesting animals and marine biology. I enjoy mixing different materials, like patterned fabric, wire, sequins, and beads to add texture and depth to my pieces.

Over the years, I’ve had the chance to collaborate with brands like Coach, Soludos, and DMC, and my work has been featured in places like Vogue, TextileArtist.org, and Vice Creator’s Project. I wrote a tutorial book called Tiny Stitches, and I embroidered the illustrations for a children’s book called Princess Pinecone and the Wee Royals. I also work on commissions, especially pet portraits with a touch of fantasy or storytelling and I love sharing what I know through workshops and online courses. Teaching has become such a meaningful part of my practice, and I love seeing how each person brings something unique to the process.
