Axel Pullen

I am an illustrator and storyteller who, from my home in The Netherlands, creates new worlds with a great passion. I am inspired by history or visions of the future. Because of this, my work often has a fantasy or science fiction theme. Since 2020 I also have a renewed interest in game design.

For my creative ventures I use both traditional and digital media, sometimes even together! When working traditionally I prefer to use Indian Ink. I use this to quickly put ideas on paper or create atmospheres.
Digitally use in the program Clip Studio Paint, but here too I try to give a handmade feel to my work. For example, by using brushes that simulate analogue materials.

But whether it is digital or analogue, I always work according to the motto imperfection is beauty, because it is the small imperfections that give character to something. A little bit of asymmetry, a spot here or there or a line that twists a bit, these are imperfections that make my work unique.

With my work I want to take you to other worlds that stimulate the imagination and I want to tell stories that inspire. Because in my opinion there is nothing better than a good story!
