Introduction
I created a bright, low-poly forest campsite scene in Unity as part of a stylized environment design project. My goal was to explore a simple, playful art style while learning how to structure a 3D scene with eye-catching focal points. I chose a campsite theme because it combines natural elements (trees, rocks, and foliage) with man-made objects (a tent and signpost), which allowed me to experiment with different shapes and textures.
Supplies
1- Unity (Game Engine): Used for assembling the scene, setting up the lighting, and integrating all assets.
2- Blender (or other 3D modeling software): Created or tweaked low-poly models (trees, rocks, tent, etc.).
3- Adobe Photoshop (or alternative): Edited textures and color palettes for the low-poly assets.
4- Unity Asset Store (Optional): Sourced any placeholder assets or reference materials for the campsite props.
5- PC/Mac with adequate GPU: To handle real-time scene previews and quick iteration on lighting and post-processing.
“Designing a Low-Poly Forest Campsite in Unity”
In this first step, I focused on conceptualizing the look and feel of my low-poly environment. I gathered reference images of forests, tents, and campsite setups, then sketched out a simple layout. By defining the style (low-poly, bright colors) early on, I ensured a consistent, playful aesthetic that guided all my modeling and texturing decisions.
